Welcome to CYSECNG 2018 National Cybersecurity Hackathon/Capture The Flag (CTF) competition. The third edition of the competition is designed to test your hacking skills in a controlled virtual lab where you (and your team) competes against your fellow participants across Nigeria.
The hackathon CTF is a jeopardy-style which spans across different categories in infosec such as cryptography and steganography, password cracking and spoofing, reverse engineering, digitals forensics, web security, among others.
Each challenge is assigned points value based on the difficulty level and timestamp. The team with the highest points at the end of the competition will be the winning team.
In a case where two or more team have the same points at the end of the competition, the judges shall use timestamp to decide the winner.
The contest is in 2 stages –
- Stage 1: Qualifying Stage (Online)
- Stage 2: Final (Onsite)
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
CYSEC NG 2018 CTF Hackathon is opened to all interested individuals, team of young geeks and cybersecurity enthusiast who are interested in testing their logical and thinking capacity through a well-structured cybergame. This competition is designed to accommodate all levels of skill and experience – Anybody can participate!
To participate, you can register as a one-man army or come with your team.
Maximum team members: 3
• Registration starts 24th September, 2018
• Registration ends 12th October, 2018
• Online Qualifiers will be between 15th October - 20th October, 2018.
• Online winners will be announced on 22nd and invited for onsite challenge taking place 30th to 31st October for the Ultimate CYSECA 2018
There are no software requirements. However, if you have never participated in a CTF before, then installing Kali, Burp, and Metasploit will be enough to get you started. As a headstart, you can check https://ctftime.org/ctf-wtf/ and https://trailofbits.github.io/ctf for guides.
